If I wasn’t so happily married, I would contemplate running off with Francesco.
What a catch. A handsome, sensitive, smart Italian man with a seductive accent (I do have a weakness for men with accents) and a lover of great food and wine.
Francesco and I speak the same language. He had me at hello.
His restaurant, Sociale, in Brooklyn Heights is unbelievable. The food is off the charts. If Sociale were in Manhattan, not only would it be three times the price, but you wouldn’t be able to get in.
Sociale is a huge hit. Its’ location, steps from the #2 train in Brooklyn Heights, is warm, welcoming, relaxed and intimate.
I never look at a menu. Francesco is in charge. This is one of the only times I ever hand over control to anyone.
Sunday night, we had the best meal we have ever experienced at Sociale. The food just keeps getting better…more nuanced and sophisticated.
The burrata, flown in from Italy and picked up at JFK weekly, is beyond description.
The bacon wrapped sea scallops were so fresh I could taste the fresh ocean brine.
The pastas render me speechless…best since my trip to Italy.
The wines are magnificent and well priced.
The desserts are orgasmic and a perfect ending to a delicious and stimulating evening. We ended up having a threesome…that’s the amount of desserts Francesco enticed us with.
So many restaurants today are expensive and uptight. At Sociale, it is like going home.
The food is brilliant, the staff well trained and invested in the restaurant’s success. Francesco is a demanding and passionate perfectionist and it pays off.
I love his story. He arrived in America from Italy, an unharnessed, inexperienced kid without funds. He started as a pizza delivery guy…the bike is on display in front of Sociale.
He worked his way up in the restaurant world and look at him now.
We always look forward to dining at Sociale, indulging in great food, wine and amazing conversation.
A meal at Sociale with Francesco is a night to remember…and yes, my husband approved the posting of this blog.
