I’ve Got Game…

Yankees

It’s Friday and that means it is date night.

People often ask if David and I have a prenuptial agreement because I was making big money when we became engaged.

Yes, we do and I am willing to divulge. Our pre-nup is a two liner…he has to ask me out on a date every weekend… he has never faltered. He knows if he did forget to meet his obligation, it would be a cold night in hell! (Upside, we could go together as this sounds refreshing seeing that I am in a perpetual state of hot!)

The second mention in our pre-nuptial agreement is my right to watch every NY Giant Football game. Sunday’s from September through January are my sacred time. No drinking, no obligations as watching a Giants football is a viewed as a religious experience in our household and demands singular focus. You are sober and straight and unfettered.

I live for the NY Giants. It is a lifelong love affair and I would never cheat on them. By the age of four, I had memorized every Giants’ number and their stats. My dad worked 6 days a week and our football Sundays were sacred and the deepest link we had to each other.

Going to a Giants home game was the highlight of my life and still is. I probably need therapy because their wins and losses deeply affect my mental state, but there really is no cure for this obsession. I have so many stories, but will not bore you.

I am still getting over the fact that gender has kept me from being a starting tight end for the NY Giants. I definitely have the body type for the position and I would be a great blocker on the line.

Courtny was coached to be a Giant’s fan from birth. For real, she learned her multiplication tables by the tender age of 3 by combining basic numbers to equal Giants’ numbers. For example, Courtny learned that 8×7 equals Lawrence Taylor, number 56.

She also thought that she had 2 father’s, David and LT because I was always pledging undying love to the most amazing defensive player (linebacker) in NFL history (yes, I know he is not a model citizen, but have chosen to overlook that because no man has brought me so much joy and Super Bowls!)

During the football off season, I am a devoted Yankees fan and am happy to announce that I am now able to get all Yankees game while in Los Angeles. I don’t do drugs or over indulge in alcohol or shop ‘til I drop, but I am addicted to the Giants followed by the Yankees.

I have been fortunate to be professionally involved with many of these athletes and it has been a real gas and an unmitigated pleasure.

A recipe for a great sports nosh. Accompany with chips, pita or veggies.

                                                             Guacamole Dip

I will list 2 options…from scratch and a cheat version.

For the real green thing…

Feeds 4 plus
8 very ripe avocados
1 large diced tomato or a handful of small cut up cherry tomatoes, season with Kosher salt
1 lemon zest and juice of the lemon
2 tbs. low fat sour cream (crème fraiche if calories don’t matter)
1 small can of sliced black olives, drained
Kosher salt
Fresh ground pepper

Roughly mash up the avocados. Squeeze in lemon juice, add olives, diced tomatoes, sour cream and mix, but do not over mix. Garnish with lemon zest. Chunky is better. Refrigerate before serving. The lemon juice also keeps the avocados from turning brown.

Cheater Guacamole
Wholly Guacamole (classic version) from Costco that comes 3 containers to a package. It’s all natural and delish. Just add the above and you are done.

Now settle back and watch the games! Even if you are not a sports fan, you can scream, release your aggressions, eat, drink, spend time with your male friends, partner, husband and sweat without making excuses!
