Hope Springs Maternal…

I woke up early yesterday and turned on MSNBC.

The news is never good these days…economic disaster is looming, Israel, with an assist from Agent Orange, banned two Muslim congresswomen from entering the country, the Statue of Liberty’s poem is being edited by white nationalists, July was the hottest month measured on Earth since records began in 1880.

I was ready to scream so I leapt out of bed and took a hike to the beach.

I breathed in the clean air, listened to the waves crash against the shore and met a lovely woman with her  beautiful 3-month-old son.

In that moment, all was right with the world.

There are decent, smart, openhearted people left in this radically divided, violent country.

We chatted for awhile.

Her baby brought back cherished memories of my daughter’s childhood.

I definitely overshared.

The encounter made me yet again realize how fortunate I am to have such a remarkable daughter…let us not forget that she did have a stellar upbringing by two remarkable parents!

She was a dream child and even slept through the night from the day she was born.

I await payback…I am happy to report she has not yet ventured to the dark side.

There is still magic in the air and we cannot allow reality to dampen our spirit.

Enjoy the weekend and be kind to one another.
