Great Ideas…

I am in NYC and the theme is, GO and DO every minute just because there are soo many amazing things to do and see…my experiences, hopefully, provide my readers with great ideas for holiday happenings and gifts.

Beyond perusing the holidays windows that I posted yesterday, I would recommend seeing the limited run, hit Broadway show, Betrayal, by playwright Harold Pinter.

The heat is palpable between real life married couple, Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig. Rafe Spall is fabulous in the role of best friend and lover. It is directed by Mike Nichols.

Still blabbing Broadway, After Midnight is a boat load of great music, dancing and entertainment. My grandfather could belt one out.  Show tunes filled the house on Sunday mornings. My dad was friendly with Robert Preston, the original Music Man in the movie and on Broadway and his voice wafted through the homestead along with Frank and Ella so the show really resonated.

If you are a fan of great music, the 16 piece Jazz At Lincoln Center All Star Orchestra is phenomenal… a must and a fab stocking stuffer for every demographic.

After Midnight
After Midnight

After Midnight takes place in the 1930’s in a Harlem night club. The singers, dancers, several who have been featured on the TV show, So You Think You Can Dance, with costumes by acclaimed fashion designer, Isabel Toledo is a magical treat. American Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino (I know, but her voice is first rate), and Dule Hill, who played Charles Young on, The West Wing, headline the talented cast.

Featured numbers include, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, I’ve Got the World on a String,  I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, Stormy Weather and Cab Calloway’s, Zaz Zuh Zaz.

We were able to buy 6th row dead center orchestra seats at TKTS for half price. We had better seats than David Geffen…he was 2 rows behind us!

Betony Restaurant

A little tease…dine at Betony, located in midtown Manhattan…seriously, one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at…review to follow.

Joe Fresh

Shop at Joe Fresh. The anchor store is located on 5th Avenue between 42nd 43rd Street. A more refined, smaller location is on Madison and 80th. Seriously, they have some wonderful pieces at incredible prices.

Joe Fresh is a Canadian clothing chain that has locations in grocery stores in Canada…my kind of shopping…roasted chicken and organic vegetables with a side of blouse and blazer.

Drop by the Jewish Museum and see the Chagall show, Love, War and Exile, a first time exhibit of his artwork from the 1930’s and 1940’s. 31 paintings are on display through February 2, 2014. Thursday’s 5-8pm are free.

Do a drive by at the MET for the Bathus exhibit.
