Hairdo Daddy…

Three NFL stars just scored major points with their daughters.

DeAngelo Williams of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys and Benjamin Watson of the New Orleans Saints are all strong, aggressive, powerful men on the gridiron.

Recently they brought their inner strength home and assumed the role of stylist to the stars…their young daughters.

The football players participated in authentically charming spots for Pantene shampoo, emanating grace and love.

The commercials emphasize the shampoo brand’s “Strong is beautiful,” promoting “girls who spend quality time with their dads grow up to be stronger women.”

The enchanting 30-second spots aired during Sunday’s Super Bowl.

The impetus for the commercial was Dr. Linda Nielsen’s substantiated belief that quality time spent with fathers is key in raising daughters who are more self-confident, self-reliant, more successful in school and in their careers.

Pantene is encouraging dads to engage in everyday tasks with their daughters.

The goal was not about creating the perfect hairdo, but time spent together and the gesture of depicting rough and tumble, football-playing dads in a nurturing, connecting role.

Heed the call, dads…bring it on and make a difference.

Take the time to face off daily with your daughters. Create a ‘do, share a tea party, play a sport, color, go to lunch. Your positive nurturing will empower your daughters.

My special time with my dad was going to the NY Giants football games. Those moments are very precious.

Men have never intimated me and my sports knowledge has been an incredible asset throughout my life.

Remember, there is still a glass ceiling that needs to come down.

Positive role models will enable young girls to grow up with indefatigable inner strength and the ability to embrace all of life’s challenges.

A shout out to the video executive producer of these enormously popular videos, Judi Nierman, who is my friend, Meryl Nierman’s cousin.

Enjoy the videos.
